Details

Dressed in traditional clothing, drummers mark the cadence for unseen dancers. Andy Isong depicts the men in a colorful canvas he names Uwa-mbe. "Uwa-mbe" is a Yoruban word meaning "occasion" or "celebration." "It is a moment of happiness whereby people eat, drink and dance to forget sad moments," the Nigerian artist explains.
