Carved from sustainable bamboo root and acacia wood, 'Uncle Duck' looks dapper as he ventures forth in a blue top hat and boots. His boots are laced with banana fiber rope. Supriyanto in Java creates the whimsical bird, combining the natural wood grain with a distressed painted blue finish in this delightful original sculpture.
Ducks play a vital role in the ecology of wet-rice agriculture in Java as in Bali. The ducks are herded into the fields well prior to harvest time to eat algae and insect pests, as well as fertilize the fields with their droppings. It is important to keep them away from ripening fields though, so that they do not eat the rice itself!

"Very cute"
Uncle Duck is adorable with lots of personality. He will make a fun addition to our mud room. Love the boot laces! My only disappointment was that the underside of the hat was left as raw wood and, I think, should have been painted to match. It?s a very minor issue but looks unfinished and painting would be an easy improvement.

"Hes adorable!"
I love this whimsical carving. Ive named him Spencer, and he sits atop my desk keeping an eye on things. I enjoy this purchase quite a bit.

"Very Cute!"
This item came from Bali. The packaging was amazling and arrived safely. The duck is so cute and the ties on the shoes are a perfect touch. Love this little guy!

"Awesome"
This roller skating duck is so cute! He looks like he's a bit of a trouble-maker. The workmanship and creativity of this art piece is much appreciated. If you like whimsy and uniqueness in your life, you will love this duck. Kudos to the artist for both of the ducks (boot and roller skater)

"Look at those boots!"
This duck sculpture is absolutely adorable. I love the large boots and the banana fiber rope ties. This is a very creative and unique piece. If you like whimsy, unique and beautiful art sculptures, you'll love this duck!! He's also a great size. I bought the other one too.
