Dressed regally, Ganesha sits on a throne with a mouse by his feet. According to Hindu lore, the mouse is his spiritual vehicle and symbolizes Ganesha's wisdom, intelligence, and presence of mind. Of his four arms, one is held up in blessing, one cups his favorite dessert and the other two hold spiritual weapons. Chander Kant reveals Ganesha's presence in a hand-carved kadam wood sculpture. Detailed with admirable artistry, Ganesha's head is supported by a florid chakra.
Chander's family members have been carvers for generations. He grew up watching his father, uncle and other relatives carve but it is his grandfather who taught him. His family has a small workshop that produces wood jewelry and other carvings using chisels and traditional hand tools. Chander regularly conducts workshops and other educational training sessions for thousands of artisans from all over India. He is dedicated to preserving wood carving and other traditional Indian arts. He is a prominently recognized artisan and has received numerous awards.
Chander provides for his two children and is determined to give them every opportunity to succeed in life.
Bought this as a gift for our sons new parents in law. Hoping that they will find this a small token of our love and appreciation in having them in our family. The carving itself is amazing, done with love and patience.
