Details

Inspired by the ancient Mochica culture, Peruvian artisans Atuane and Santos design this striking pendant necklace. Adorning the neck on cotton cord, this accessory culminates in a tumi blade-shaped pendant that is hand-carved of aguano masha wood. The symbols etched into the pendant are inspired by a mummy found at the archaeological site El Brujo. Known as la Dama de Cao (The Lady of Cao), this mummy wore jewelry and other symbols, such as the spider tattoo featured in this necklace. In ancient Mochica cultures, the spider symbolized divine creation.
