Handcrafted of wood, three women are depicted in this set of ornaments from Ghana. Robert Aidoo-Taylor paints each woman with a dress, given a rustic finish. This set of ornaments is named Mbabaawa, meaning "young girls" in Fante. Says the artisan, "As the saying goes, 'The youth are the future leaders.' The young ladies in the central Region of Ghana are allowed to play major roles in celebrations for all occasions. Special celebrations are meaningless without the mbabaawa."

I thought the bracelets were well made, but I bought them for my grandson n they barely fit. Too small! However the delivery was quick and the packaging was beautiful!!
