Francis Agbete sets the first Christmas in a traditional African palm house. Carved by hand from ceiba, or kapok wood, this charming nativity scene depicts the Holy Family in traditional Ghanaian dress. The Three Kings bring gifts to the Christ child, and animals snuggle close to the manger to keep the baby warm.

"Very Basic but Charming Nativity"
Figures within the Palm House are roughly carved and lack detail on the faces, clothing. Artist needs to take a bit more time and do a bit more finishing effort.

"Beautiful reminder of meaning of Christmas"
This is truly lovely with detailed workmanship. My parish and those surrounding (L.I.,N.Y.)often have a priest from Ghana. This reminds me of their deep faith and ministry they bring to us. I now will add to year round display in china cabinet of other Nativity scenes, including others from Novica. HIS presence is present.

"Inspiring work of art!"
