“A beautiful and expressive piece”

This is a truly wonderful, handmade work of art. The carving is smoothly and expertly done; the wood grain is beautifully showcased. Although this piece has an exquisite simplicity to it, the love between Mary and Joseph and their love for the Holy Child is evident, as Mary and Baby Jesus are cradled in Joseph s arms. It is one of those pieces where the artist hasn t had to create something complicated or overly intricate in order to convey so much. Fernando Castro has “spoken” in a whisper - yet, when you hold this special and artful piece in your hands, his message of love, heartfelt compassion, and respect can be heard as powerfully and clearly as if he had shouted it from a mountain top.

“A Wonderful Gift with Meaning”

This exquisite little pair is finely crafted and immediately brings emotional and thoughtful responses. I mounted them on a small oval piece of pine finished in a light brown, then placed that on top of a heart shaped thin larger thin piece of maple finished in very dark brown. It was then inscribed as a thank you gift and presented to a board member & secretary retiring from our arts organization. I saw the pair differently from its name. I saw the cat and a caring creature watching over a tiny member of a different species, which, to me, is a beautiful and important statement. I discussing the two possible iinterpretations with a friend, he noted, Well, the mouse is still alive! Your work is truly beautiful, Fernando. Thank you. (Picture later)
