Traditional Handmade Balinese Female Figure Wood Sculpture, "Panyembrama Dance"
Descending from a long line of skilled artists, Bali native Nyoman Sedayatana has been concentrating on sculptures and wooden furniture since he was fourteen years of age. He carves this crocodile wood sculpture of a welcoming Balinese woman, naming it after the culturally significant ritual 'Panyembrama Dance' which is performed in Bali for receiving guests and in preparation for Hindu religious ceremonies. Sedayatana is driven by his love for Balinese identity and hopes to show it off to the world through his work.
