Pirot Gitikoon of Thailand hand carves this beautiful miniature spirit house from teakwood. A traditional Thai guardian spirit house is a space separate from the rest of the home that is often used for sacred Buddhist ceremonies to invite the protecting spirit to inhabit the house. With this miniature spirit house, the artisan carves two steep, overlapping roofs that are linked together to form the elegant naban (gables), from which rise the cho fa (elongated triangular finials). Cascading down from these are the decorative leaf forms on the bargeboards called bai raka, which lead to the side hang hong finials, here shaped like the tails of wild swans.
