Details

A sense of peace and tranquility emanates from this photograph by Brazil's João Paulo Barbosa. "A man in a canoe travels the Araguaia River, in the Karajá/Tapirapé territory," Barbosa explains. "The Karajás and Tapirapés of today have intense social and economic relations, but this has not always been so. They come from different linguistic backgrounds, different views of the world, and during the days of the Tapirapé migration to the region in the beginning of the 20th century, the two groups were enemies. They currently share a territory and the resources from the Araguaia River"

Featuring a white border, the photograph is printed on Crystal Archive Fuji paper.
