An ancient Middle Eastern symbol of protection and prosperity, the hamsa hand derives its name from the Arabic for "five." The amulet has long been used to ward off the evil eye and is still seen in jewelry and decorations in Islamic and Hebrew traditions. Suar Dwipayana portrays the Hamsa in a sterling silver necklace, adorned with a cabochon reconstituted turquoise gem in the palm.
