Kenari finds inspiration in spiritual artistry for the design of these earrings. Crafted by hand with pearls and sterling silver, the earrings resemble the bells that monks ring inviting the spirits to hear their prayers.
.925 Sterling silver
Kenari's business has grown since joining Novica and she now has three assistants. Additionally she is able to give work to other local silversmiths as the need arises.
Kenari is from Celuk, the historical center of the Balinese silver trade. All of her family work in silver and as a girl she learned silversmithing techniques from her grandfather and assisted her uncle in his workshop. When she married her husband was very supportive and she continued to create jewelry. Kenari uses traditional techniques and hand-finishing to create her jewelry. She incorporates traditional Balinese designs in her pieces in the hope of sustaining not only traditional techniques but also the motifs that are the hallmark of Balinese jewelry. She would love for her children to continue this trade and hopes to teach them as they grow-up.
Kenari and her husband are very involved in their children's lives. They particularly encourage their sons artistic pursuits and encourage their interests in guitar, gamelan music and drawing.
Kenari is committed to growing her business. She constantly develops new designs and has hired assistants to help her increase her output.
Kenari relies on her Novica sales to support not only her family but also her assistants and their families.
The Women's Empowerment badge is awarded to female artisans or artisan groups that are led by women.
Kenari is committed to giving her children the best possible education..
