"My name is Eka Widyasari and I am a woodcarver.

"My husband Wayan Suesen, a Novica-featured artisan, died in an accident in October of 2015. After my daughter was born, we were feeling blessed with happiness when the tragedy occurred, leaving me alone with a seven-year-old son and a daughter only two months old.

"I'm trying to continue his work. While I know it's not a skill I can easily master, I have to continue to raise my children even during hard times like this. I want to keep our workshop going.

"I pray to God that someday my children and I can have a better life. While I know that my husband will not come back, my son doesn't and this makes me sad.

"I work by myself and sometimes a family helps me carve. We use only traditional tools like saws, sandpaper, brushes and paint.

"Life hasn't been easy for us without my husband, but I refuse to give up because I want to see my children grow and thrive. They are my biggest motivation to work and continue fighting alone for them in this life."
