Lilliana Guzman honors the sun with a composition that is filled with artistic energy. "To the Maya people, the sun was the most crucial element needed to study the passing of time," explains the Guatemalan artist. She is inspired by the legendary symbols of the Maya calendar as she paints a golden sun at the center of a fiery canvas, where red and dark red represent the first and third days, and orange symbolizes the second. Painting with acrylics, she creates textures with gesso and sand.
Titled "Tres días" in Spanish.
