“I am Francis Nuetey, a realist portrait and abstract painter. I was born in the Accra region of Ghana, in Ningo-Prampram. I am described by friends as hardworking, creative and versatile. I was born to Mrs.Tetteh Honesty, a trader, and Mr. Peter Tetteh, a miner. My parents are very hard-working, and that was one trait I learned from them. I have 3 siblings, and I am the only male and the first born also. I attended secondary school and proceeded to the College of Art, where I studied painting. I finished with a certificate from the Ghanatta College of Art. I’m not married, but soon will settle down and get married.
“I was born to do art and I will never stop, because it is filled with life and everything we do in our daily lives, and my passion for it always pushes me to work harder. What attracts me to art is how it is done, as well the colors, movement, balance and the uniqueness of it.
“My inspiration in life is derived from my society, wildlife, and things I see around.
The cost of buying painting materials is one of the basic challenges that I face. But at least the benefits, which is helping young talented artists to discover the meaning of art and make a living for themselves, outweighs the challenges. I can boast of training close to 10 artists in Ghana, and still I am willing to train more who are interested. I believe in passing on knowledge to the other generation.
“A friend who introduced me to NOVICA told me of so many wonderful things that they did for him, so I was stunned and also joined the NOVICA family. My hopes and dreams are to get an art school and galleries in Ghana to help the up-and-coming young artists to master their potential, and create jobs for the youth as well.”
