"I'm from Manipur, the easternmost state in India. Ever since I was born, I've had two great role models to look up to and I consider myself lucky to have inherited my grandfather's skill and my father's patience and determination.

"My grandfather was a celebrated mason when he was younger, and used to take me to his workshop when I was a child. Since then, I've learned to appreciate art. He taught me the art of paper cutting and I was captivated by it.

"Paper cutting was once a popular art form. I have pledged myself to help preserve this beautiful art form, and I teach children to ensure the survival of this dying art, just like my grandfather taught me.

"At one time, I struggled to make ends meet and tried working odd jobs along with my interior design work to put food on the table. I saved cautiously, hoping to someday have enough to sustain myself. One day, while designing our prayer room with my own paper cutting designs, I found my calling.

"Nature and wildlife have always been my inspiration so it is only fitting the materials I use come mostly from nature. I also try to use recycled materials to contribute to the environment in my own small way.

"With my wife's financial acumen and my art, we work together and I could not be more grateful for her constant support. My father continues to offer me invaluable advice.

"I try to combine modern designs with traditional motifs to keep up with contemporary tastes while using traditional practices. I hope that I can one day fulfill my lifelong dream of becoming a celebrated artist and connect with different people through my artwork."
