Billowing clouds nestle on ridge tops, casting shadows on steep slopes. Beneath, a smooth plain stretches between mountains, punctuated by dense woods. Mauro Fichman captures a serene landscape in a monotone photograph. "This scene could never be forgotten," Fichman says. "I photographed it in 1977 on my first journey as an amateur photographer, during my first year in the school of industrial design. I recovered this precious strip of negatives and dedicated time to making a careful print."
