World Peace-themed Red and Blue Acrylic on Canvas Painting, "Peace Mask"
In this painting for the World Peace Project, two halves of a face become whole. The artist explains:
"Personal peace is to accept oneself no matter how you look or the circumstances around you. It is the inner peace that we enjoy no matter the challenges life imposed on us. If our intentions are pure, we will always be at peace with ourselves. Peace is a state of mind brought about by the serenity of the soul. It is by this that every individual can rise to his or her full potential.
"In this global world, we all need each other either black or white. Is by loving and understanding one another that we can enjoy the freedom we all seek. Peace is something we must work towards. We must be bold to speak against oppression, violence, civil war and global conflict. World peace and unity is what we need to be able to solve global issues. For instance, when all countries cooperated and worked in peace and unity, we were able to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic. This is why I always send the message of peace in my paintings.
"In African tradition, the mask is seen as the soul of a society or a clan in which all worship. I therefore portrayed the mask as a world, and the painting comes in two halves of colors red and blue which represents countries coming together in peace and unity to make complete whole mask. It means we are interdependent on each other. That when there is World peace we will enjoy the freedom we all seek."
