Details

Combining jute and recycled paper, Akwele Suma crafts a necklace of unique ecological value. She weaves and knots the threads by hand, masterfully including discs of rolled-up paper and shaping the clasp from the same jute cord.

The artist uses the paper at hand so paper colors will vary, making each design a unique example of handcrafted art. These beads receive a protective coat of clear nail polish.
