Peyote Pendant and Waterfall Beaded Huichol Necklace, "Wixarika Sun"
This impressive necklace is the work of the nimble and patient fingers of Wixarika Huichol artisan Tunurima Lopez. It features five peyote flower medallions in the center of the fiery red Tau Tayau, the sun. A long, radiant fringe cascades beneath the central pendant, while orange and purple scorpions scuttle across the back. Teruka, the scorpion is the guardian of the corn – staff of life – and must receive gifts before the harvest. All these bold images all created by hand with multicolored seed beads.
