A cuchimilco, believed to keep bad energies at bay, proudly represents Peru's Chancay culture. He wears an ornate headdress and decorative face paint or tattoos on the cheeks and chin. Cuchimilcos are usually found in pairs featuring a man and a woman — symbolic of divine duality, a belief held by all pre-Hispanic cultures. Walter Jose Acosta crafts this figurine by hand, showing the expertly replicating the artistic stylizations of ancient Andean peoples.

"Beautiful conversation piece"

My warmest Thanks to Walter Jose Acosta for this incredible and wonderful piece of art! Through my work as a film director, I came into contact with Nazca culture and was immediately enchanted and excited. These vessels are truly empathetic and authentically designed replica that resurrect this extinct culture. Many thanks to Walter for this time travel!

"Amazing Craftsmanship"
I just returned from my second trip to Peru, where I saw hundreds of original Moche artifacts in museums, including the one this is based on. I was looking for a piece like this to bring back, as I love Moche work, but didn t find anything I liked. I saw Mr. Acosta s work on Novica and was immediately enthralled. I ordered this piece plus the Nazca whale ceramic. They both are beautiful and so much like the originals! I will definitely buy more of his work in the future.
