Brazil's Thereza Toscano presents her own interpretation of Gaston Leroux's 1910 novel The Phantom of the Opera, retold in theater, film and music. Working in a moody palette of blues and greys, she depicts the protagonist, Christine, in a lacy gown as she meets the masked "phantom" to marry him. Amid the shadows, the crystal chandelier attests to the splendor of the majestic 19th century French opera house.
Titled "O Fantasma da Ópera" in Portuguese.
