Handcrafted cotton patchwork depicts village women from the desert, their traditional clothing decorated with beautiful block-printed motifs. Setting about their chores, these Indian women are celebrated over the surface of this amazing quilt. Presented by Chinni Swamy, the quilt is elaborated with diligent embroidery. On the reverse side, the quilt features a solid color in sand. A light polyester filling gives the quilt a delightful feel.
Chinni runs a local school, the Purkal Youth Development Society, that provides free education, books, uniforms and daily meals for 500 students. Many of these children have been able to pursue higher education and find good jobs as a result of this early childhood education program.
