"I've been passionate about art all my life and began drawing at a young age."
"I am an artist and Isaac Kwadwo Afedi is my name I was born in Kumasi in 1984.
"My friends describe me as a God-fearing man who doesn't give up on dreams and who works with seriousness.
"I've been passionate about art all my life and began drawing at a young age. At school, I drew in my textbooks and on chalkboards. I was taught by a street artist and have taught few people myself. With determination and creativeness, I was able to master painting techniques.
"When I established my art studio, there was a point in time when I could not get the capital to start it. I even thought about abandoning my talent to go work at a timber company making plywood.
"In the early days, I once went to a gallery to ask if I could bring some of my works to display. But they rejected my paintings and said they weren't good enough to sell at their gallery. I really felt embarrassed. I thank God I eventually overcame those difficult moments.
"After my apprenticeship, I started on my own and am an art teacher at a school. My paintings are inspired by my environment, the feelings of the people around me and contemporary African village life.
"In painting, I most enjoy experimenting with the brushstrokes. It's challenging to apply colors on different paint when it hasn't dried but I have to finish on time. I use acrylics, watercolors and charcoal.
"I dream of one day having a studio where talented artists who are not able to attend school can come together to create their masterpieces."
