"Indiana Jones Cold Weather Adventure Gear!"

A very substantial coat with layers of warmth for any climate. I got this for my Dad at Christmas. I could just see him wearing this along with his fedora on a quest to find long lost treasures! Not your everyday jacket, this one is made for adventure! It was a big hit with my father.

"Very disappointing"

Although artfully photographed for the catalog, the coat in real life is a formless blob, and as a reviewer pointed out, the drawstring one would assume tightens the waist actually tightens the back. Another reviewer's comment that the leather collar and trim are much darker than pictured proved true in my case, as well. I relied on the catalog photo and description rather than reviews, a mistake I will not make again.

there's truth in all previous reviews: it fit , but looked huge. crazy slash pockets. drawstring only cinches back, makes front puff out. probably really warm, but i'll never be that cold. liked it, but didn't love it at that price. wish i had...

"Excellent product! Does everything it is supposed to."

I received the coat the day before I went on a six day horseback riding trip into the Rockies at Banff National Park. Temperature range from 2 C. to 20 C, rain and shine, it did the job. Very comfortable walking, sitting or riding. Lots of useful pockets.

"Not worth the price"

Gave this gift to my husband who agreed with me that this was not worth the price. Very expensive for the quality received. Too bad, since I had to pay for shipping it both ways.

"I'd get it again!"

I bought this jacket for my spouse for Christmas 3 years ago. It's his mainstay jacket and after 3 years- literally still looks like new. Washes like a dream. Has a comfortable, classic and adventurous look. He loves this jacket so much, I am seriously considering buying him another one in the event that this one actually starts to show wear. Have bought many, many products for him from NatGeo- always the same amazing quality, durability and panache.

"Sizing is way off"

The negative comments about this jacket and the sizing are correct. I am 5'9'' and 165 pounds. Medium should be close. But medium fit like an extra extra large. Of course I returned it but this item gives me serious doubts about ordering from National Geographic again.

"Very Lovely Coat!"

This is one fine coat! Well made and comfortable to wear, even though I have yet to wear it during cold weather as it's presently very early September. I agree with some of the previous reviewers: you'll be happier if you order the next size up; I did and the coat fits wonderfully.

"Great Travel Jacket, Warm & Comfortable"

This garment has pockets in all the right places. I use it for travel. Keeps everything in place and secure. Coat is extremely comfortable, functional for both warm and tropical climates. Very easy to zip down lining out and turn into a great lightweight jacket with incredible storage capacity. Also use as a blanket or pillow when the occasion arises. No problem. Also think the color is perfect for blending into cultural environments without sticking out too much. Would also be a great hunting jacket if the need arises. Great design and neutral style. Buy it! You will be glad you own it.

"Great coat"

Bought this coat for my husband as a Christmas gift. He loves it. I got him an XL and fits great. He's 5'10" and about 215lbs. It's roomy without appearing too big. Has multiple pockets which he really likes. Warm and very comfortable. The color is more of a greenish beige instead of a brownish beige but it's not a bad color.

"Zipper broken"

The coat feels very warm. The inside liner has a nice silky feel to it and soft, warm, down feeling. (I don't know if it was real down or not, but feels like it.) Nice, thick, warm coat. For fall/summer the down lining comes out. The blue color came looking more gray than blue. I had a hard time deciding between ordering Brown or blue, but wish I had ordered the brown instead. I am 5' 7" and a little portly so I ordered the large. It did come quite roomy which is okay since I prefer wearing layers, but did look oversized on me. Plenty of shoulder room if you are a slim person. I think it is the design. If I had bought a medium. It would have been too tight for my belly. Overall, I liked the jacket and the plenty of pockets, but had to return it because the zipper was real cheap. I had to struggle to get it to hook together, pull up, and it skipped off track. The zipper didn't match the quality of the coat. I returned it for the zipper reason. Nothing worse than struggling with a zipper when you are cold or in a hurry.

"Great travel coat, but much too big."

Looks and feels like a great quality travel coat. It seemed practical, but size was way to big for a Medium and you did not sell small sizes for someone with 40" chest, 33" sleeve, and 15 1/2" neck.

"I think I would keep Looking!"

This coat appeared nicely made, however for the price charged it just wasn't a great value. I think it is a good $120 coat, but [$] or [$] like I paid for mine - no. It is on its way back to NatGeo for someone else to buy. The collar is a chocolate brown leather that can be removed, there is no hood, of course. The slash pockets are cut so as to be mostly useless. The down insullation does make the coat look puffy. If you remove the insulated lining, the resultant jacket will hang on you like a poorly shaped empty shell. As others have noted, the drawstrings only tighten the back. On top of everything they charged $22+ to ship it to me - there were no less expensive choices. It cost me less than $8 to return it...go figure. [*] I'll keep looking elsewhere for a new winter coat.

"Comfortable, worth the price"

I received it a week ago. It appears to be well made. It is heavier than I had expected. It has lots of pockets, which I like. I'm 5' 9", 165 pounds, and I ordered a Medium; sometimes Medium is a little tight on me and there's not enough room for more layers (sweater or vest) underneath, but this has plenty of room. We've had light rain here recently and I've worn it in that weather and it seems to shed well; I wouldn't wear in in heavy rain or even for a long period of time in light or moderate rain but it's not advertised as being waterproof. I don't know how warm it is as the weather here has been much warmer than usual for October this past month but I got it as an intermediate season garment so was not expecting something that would be suitable in sub-zero weather. On the whole, I'm quite pleased with it and am glad I ordered it.

"Simply GREAT!!"

Obviously first class jacket/parka. Very good manufacturing, styling and weather protection. This coat looks so good that it may be used for all sorts of occasions, both formal or informal. It is very warming and seems to be adaptable to a variety of weather environments to justify owning one of them. I am totally satisfied with it.

"Great addition to the warddrobe!"

This jacket is very versatile with loads of useful pockets in the right places. The down lining keeps you warm in northern winters and when removed it becomes a great spring/fall jacket that repels rain. It is well made & microfiber fabric looks good after hard wear. It has become my everyday jacket of choice.

"Well at least it looks good in the photo"

Photo online is lighter than actual item. The leather collar in reality is dark brown, not a lighter brown as in the photo. It would be stylish if the waist draw string pulled in the front and back. This jacket only pulls in the back so you look puffier in the front. I will be returning it. Plus a month ago it was only [$] now[$]

"Just what I was looking for."

A very comfortable, very warm, very functional coat. Precisely what I was looking for. Two small quibbles: the flaps on the front slash pockets are sewn across the bottom, making the pockets awkward to access with gloves on; the storm flap buttons are oddly placed, I may have one relocated nearer breastbone level. Otherwise, I love the coat, especially because of the 9 pockets (6 outer, 3 inner).

"The coat for traveling."

I haven't really given this coat a workout yet, but it is what I expected out of the box. I purchased it for an upcoming trip to Peru where I'll need a coat that will carry me thru multiple climates and weather variations. Warm in Lima, cold up in the Andes. The multiple pockets will be a real plus.

"Great Coat - Very warm!"

This is my second time buying this coat -- wore old one through 3 pretty tough northeast winters and finally needed a new one. It is the warmest, most comfortable coat I have ever owned and basically wear it from November to April! Love all the perfectly placed pockets. Is it the most fashionable? Probably not, but I think it looks pretty good for most ocassions -- from going to work to going sledding with the kids. I would buy this coat over and over!

"Quality of the recent purchase"

Styling is what I was looking for. I like the numerous pockets. the coat seems larger than I wanted considering the layering I will use when wearing. The liner seems right size but the coat seems larger. Wish I could try on a medium to see if there is a difference in fit.
