Alonso Luis uses the same legendary techniques that make Talavera ceramics unique to craft this exquisite pair of soup bowls. The original composition on the enameled bowls is painted by hand with the characteristic cobalt blue, and the Mexican artisan adds the harmonious complement of jade green for a dramatic sense of depth. A single flower centers the interior.

"Al"s entire collection is stunning!"
Our purchase of Alonso Luis Talavera began nearly 20 years ago in a San Miguel de Allende gallery, and we continued to collect several pieces while visiting Mexico over the next ten years. In 2007 we had the enormous privilege of visiting the small factory itself in a town outside of Puebla. Mr. Luis himself graciously escorted us through the factory and showed us the steps to create his treasures, starting from the pile of clay outside through the final firing. As we no longer travel to Mexico, we are delighted to find AL's Talavera at Novica! We use our elegant Talavera plates and bowls and mugs daily and do not hesitate putting them into the dishwasher. We also display AL Talavera both on plate stands and behind glass cabinet doors. Guests never fail to comment on its beauty, expecting it to be European, mainly Italian, rather than Mexican. Whether it be for a special display item or daily use, I highly recommend the beauty and serviceability of AL Talavera! We love it!
