From Oaxaca, Mexico, comes this artisan-crafted tin wall mirror from Aida and Cristino Lavariega. Flaming hearts are common subjects for handicrafts produced by artisans in Oaxaca. Referred to as milagros, or "miracles," these images, usually made from some type of metal, were often left as offerings for a particular saint as a testament that a certain prayed-for miracle had taken place. This milagro is decorative and functions as a heart-shaped frame for a mirror. Crafted using repoussé techniques, the embossed frame is painted by hand in a vibrant red color.
