According to the Maya calendar, B'atz is symbolized by a cone of energy driving into the earth's core representing evolution. It is flanked by two hook-like images representing the female and male energies. The animal associated with it is the monkey.
"This collection is inspired by a desire to turn a natural catastrophe like the Pacaya volcanic eruptions into something creative," confide Fernando and David." To this end, the Maya glyphs are perfect because they link our past with our present and future. They explore our connection with the cosmos." Carved of coconut shell, glyph is detailed with a mixture of volcanic ash and crystal resin. The hand-crafted pendant hangs from a sleek leather cord with sterling silver fixtures.

Im buying this piece as a birthday gift for my best friend, having previously ordered a bracelet and pendant from Fernando and David for myself. I love their work, and the meaning of their chosen materials. I also wanted to show my support for fellow LGBT+ artists this Pride Month.??????
