Details

The Tz‘utujil are one of the smallest of the ethnic subgroups that make up Maya culture. Living in the Lago de Atitlan region of Guatemala, they raise coffee and maize in addition to welcoming tourists who are drawn by Tz‘utujil painting, weaving, and beadwork. The beaded medallions in this colorful necklace are handcrafted by Tz‘utujil artisans using glass seed beads and Czech fire-polished glass crystals.

"It's so pretty!"

I bought this necklace with the matching earrings for a gift and I am so glad to be able to give it to my granddaughter. It is so much prettier than the picture. The detail and workmanship are fantastic. I showed to her mother, who was admiring it, until I pointed out she was looking at the back side. A mixture of colors and a little sparkle, too.

"One of a kind"

The necklace is stunning and well made. It fits my neck perfectly but could be a little longer. The clamp is one of a kind; my concern is what happens if I break the loop. I'm very careful putting on and taking off. The colors are magnificent and I had many compliments when worn. The set can be worn at work, evening, and too unique to wear casually.

"more muted colors"

I was surprised that the colors weren't as vibrant as pictured online. I will return it. Well made. more autumnal than jewel tones.
