Details

Swimming together toward a central point, fish fill this exuberant painting by Devendra Kumar Jha. Fish are a symbol of fertility and abundance, and are considered one of the many avatars of Lord Vishnu. The people of Mithila believe that God created the sea and hence the fish appeared, the first living creatures on earth. The artist works in the traditional Madhubani style with colors derived from plants on handmade paper.

As each painting is an individual creation, each is unique. Colors and motifs can vary slightly from that pictured.

I had my ""Elephant Harmony"" painting matted and framed and it is now the centerpiece of my living room. It is so vibrant and colorful and everyone who visits my home comments on the detail and beauty. The picture doesn't do it justice. It is a wonderful piece of art and my family will treasure it. Thank you for this beautiful, artistic work.
Your lovely Village Scene painting became a gift for an Indian friend and colleague. It gave me great pleasure to provide this wonderful piece to him. Best wishes for continued success as an artist.
