New adventures, experiences and memories are arriving to be written in a convenient accessory paying homage to Guatemala. Designer Gaby Briz works side by side with a talented artisan team, creating a gorgeous composition of a classic Chicken bus and printing it on the cardboard cover of this lined journal. With 100 paper pages for long-term use and a plastic coil binding, the piece features the Spanish expressionGuau! set in artistic calligraphy at the front of the design, making a fun nod to this blessed nation's name and the marvelous nature of its traditions.

I am starting a new class very soon and wanted a new book to document my stories and notes. I am a weaver myself with a 45 Leclerc floor loom at home and have always wanted to travel to Guatemala to learn the technique of backstrap weaving. So when I saw this beautiful, colourful piece of art, I was immediately drawn to it and new that this journal was the one. In addition, I wanted to support fair trade and another artist so making the decision to buy this book was easy. The process was easy and my new book arrived ahead of schedule and well before my class begins. It was carefully packaged and wrapped with a lovely Guatemalan doll attached, a postcard from Guatemala, and a hand written note from Evelyn thanking me for my purchase. Such a personal touch that was very appreciated and reminds me that even though there may be many miles between our countries, the beauty of art has no boundaries and unites us. Many thanks!

Because of NOVICAs operations in Guatemala, and my love especially lesser-known birds, I have quite a few pieces representing quetzals. However, most artists depict quetzals as very dignified. This one stands out to me though because Ms. Brizs style makes it so adorable!

What I enjoy most about my work is disconnecting from the world and immersing myself in the creative process. It brings me immense peace.
