Details

Higinio Hernandez Carrillo selects a dazzling palette for this bright and bold skull figurine. Stars are dazzling, lending their radiant light to the forehead and clustering throughout the surface. These rrurabe are the guardian stars that accompany the shaman. Behind it and slightly superimposed, a diamond-shaped talisman known as the "eye of God" directs us to the correct path of life. Jicuri in psychedelic colors covers the cheeks and back of the head. Resembling a flower with six petals, these bright peyote buds are the centerpiece of Huichol ritualism. It is revered for its curative properties and its ability to enlighten the one who partakes of it. The talented artisan coats the skull with beeswax and places the tiny seed beads one by one to create the icons of his people.

Do not expose this piece to direct heat or light, as it could soften the wax adhesive and thus loosen the beads.
