Handwoven Black and White Wool Poncho from Mexico, "White Stars at Midnight"
Diminutive geometric motifs evoke twinkling white stars in the darkest of night. By Ignacio Netzahualcoyotl, this beautiful poncho is woven by hand of virgin wool. This is a gabán, which often translates as "overcoat," as it is a warm outer layer over shirts, sweaters and even jackets. The handsome wrap has a central seam and fringe at each end, and is open at the sides. A master weaver, the artisan colors the yarn with natural dyes derived from plants.
