Delivery EstimateFun and whimsical, an adventurous cat hugs the branch of a tree, decorating this piece of ceramic wall art from Mexico. Maria Isabel Cruz creates this piece, crafted using the dry rope technique, in which a wax mixture made of magnesium oxide and fat is applied to the outlines of the image or motif prior to glazing. The wax mixture creates a barrier that keeps the different fill colors in the design separate during firing, before burning off to reveal the blackened ceramic beneath.

"Cute but had some flaws in execution"
Im a cat lover and also like to find nifty items to donate to a cat rescue for their fundraiser. This seemed to fit the bill. When it arrived, though, I noticed some white paint spatter under the glaze, and it didnt look deliberate (though it might have been), but rather kind of sloppy, as if someone hadnt been paying attention with paint on a brush. When I took a photo and sent it to the head of the fundraising committee, she advised returning it because she felt the white spatter (which was especially noticeable on the cat), would be a deterrent to potential bidders/buyers at the fundraiser. Pity, because I really like this artists work.

"Such a beautiful, fun piece of art!!"

"Fun!"
I noted in other reviews that I purchased eight of Marias plates and love them all. Im in the process of hanging a grouping of them - all wonderful and fun animals. They each have an amazing personality of their own and I love them all. Many thanks to Maria and Novica! I highly recommend Marias artistry!

"A new house blessing gift!"
