Handmade Fertility Doll Sculpture, "Queen Mother"
Asantewaa, the name of this doll, was a brave queen mother of the Ashanti people of Ghana. She was renowned for her ability to lead men into war, and since that time, many women who bear this name manifest a representative level of valor and intelligence. Carved from sese wood, the piece exemplifies Daniel Nyadedzor's creative and historical artistry. Aluminum plates, emulsion paints, clay, and a finish of Mansion polish complete the reverent design. The carving is known as akuaba, or fertility doll.

"Perfectly sized for Christmas Ornaments"
Another well-made set of African artwork to add to my cultural Christmas decor. The painted finish did need a bit of polish for the beauty of the details to shine, however.
