Handcrafted Pinewood Mary Statuette from Guatemala, "Glowing Guadalupe"

Seeming to glow with holy energy, the mother of Jesus is captured in this impressive statuette from Guatemala. Artisan duo Juan and Carolina create the statuette, carved of pinewood and hand-painted with floral motifs in rustic tones. Each tendril of light that surrounds her is made of a separate piece of wood, and is removable. Say the artisans, "We love being able to create all of these pieces, because with them we can portray saints that are worthy of the devotion of many Guatemalans who have witnessed their miracles through fervent orations."

"Wonderful New Saint"
I already have a favorite carver among Novica s group of artisans. Or so I thought. I decided to try Juan and Carolina s work and am pleased to say I am delighted by their piece. I have a wonderful new Saint Francis to add to my collection. The carving is well proportioned. The color palette is very nice. (The “antiquing” is not needed.) They have a good eye for detail. I like the way they handled adding the birds to the piece. I will watch for other pieces carved by them and will most likely buy a another one that catches me eye. Thank you for including this talented couple with your artisans.

"She is amazing!"
The expression on this angels face is so touching. When you look at her you can see not only comfort and love, but also sadness. I have no idea how the artisans pulled that out of a wooden sculpture, but they did. She is truly beautiful.

"This is a beautiful piece"
This rustic St. Francis greets guests to my house at a small table by the front door, his complement of birds telling everyone that this is a house where animals are cherished. Wonderful workmanship.
