Handcrafted Ceramic Pre-Hispanic Puppy Ocarina Flute, "Pre-Hispanic Puppy"
Wagging a cheerful greeting from the distant past, a pre-Hispanic puppy seems to smile. His rounded form is characteristic of the ceramic dogs found in shaft tombs throughout what is now the state of Colima. These exceptional figurines are highly prized, and represent scenes of daily life in pre-Hispanic Mexico. Georgina Cabrera recreates the canine as a terracotta ocarina, a whistle-like flute believed to have been used in ancient ceremonies.
