Hand Crafted Dried Gourd Statuette of St Francis with Birds, "St Francis of Assisi"
It is said that one day St Francis of Assisi preached to hundreds of birds to give thanks to God for their independence, their multicolored feathered clothes and for the Lord's care. And the birds stood still as Francis walked among them. This famous story inspires Sergio Vinelli Jr to transform a natural dried bottle gourd into an expressive statuette. The Brazilian artist expertly details Francis' eyes and beard, the rosary around his neck and white doves on his head and waist. The result is a one-of-a-kind statuette for those devoted to this beloved saint.
The artisan works with natural gourds, making each statuette unique, so slight differences in shape and size are to be expected.
