To create his unique sculpture, Yudi Suardi hand carves a patch of dainty mushrooms from jempinis wood. The Balinese artisan hand carves the mushrooms from jempinis wood, using a benalu base with a naturally flat bottom to support the carving. Nearby, a handblown glass vase completes the sculpture with a glossy finish that contrasts beautifully with the wood.

“Incredibly Lifelike”

The piece is very beautiful. You can almost see the wings flutter as the hummingbirds feed. It was surprising to me how light-weight it is. And its amazing that it was created from what was basically trash wood.
