Hand Carved Sese Wood Wall Mask from West Africa, "Agrobeso in Maize"
Ghanaian artisan Christian Kwesi Tawiah crafts this wonderful mask by hand using traditional techniques that take weeks to complete. The painted oblong face is expertly carved from local sese wood, and features a maize and caramel colored face bordered by an emerald green pattern with chevron motifs on the sides. This the artisan's own design, which he calls Agrobeso, a word meaning "it will be a fun time" in the Akan dialect.
