“My name is Isaac Kamboli. I was born in July, 1987, to John Seidu Kamboli, a wood carver, and Mercy Akua Adubea, a trader, in Aburi-Atuasin in the eastern region of Ghana. The Eastern region is well known for its rich culture and beautiful arts.
“I have 5 siblings, and I am the last born of the family. Hardship started hitting my family due to our family size. I had to drop out of secondary school and help my Dad with the carving. I had no help at all. I am known to those around me as very funny, hardworking and tolerant of any issue. Therefore, I never let my family circumstances hold me back. I fought very hard to learn to carve and finish home decor products.
“At one point in my life I took to alcoholism, which I later realized wasn't helping me, and so I stopped. I see life as a challenge; that is, challenging my fears and situations and standing tall as a victor.
“My aim has always been to be the world's number-one artisan. I obtain inspiration from watching television and conducting research online. I design sculptures and home decor accessories with wood and acrylic colors. I polished my skills a little through my master, who from time to time passes work on to me.
“I have the aim of getting married soon and starting my own family. I am determined to carve and create unique designs for NOVICA.”
