Lying down together, the fabled lovers Rama and Sita from the Hindu epic Ramayana are depicted in this awe-inspiring sculpture from Bali. Nyoman Indrawati Subrata of the Subrata Family carves the image by hand from suar wood, carrying on the extraordinary art work of her late father, Nyoman Subrata. This piece of home decor features a most impressive degree of intricacy and detail.

"Wow! This sculpture is Awesome!"
I bought this sculpture to sit on my bedroom dresser because what better place to celebrate the ultimate Love of the Ages epitomized by Rama & Sita? And, while the pictures on the Novica site are accurate, theres somehow no comparison to how amazingly awesome this sculpture is up close & personal. The presence of this sculpture comes across like a quad-shot of cosmic esspresso! The carving is exquisite, kind of jaw-droppingly so. As a trained artist & craftsperson, myself, I am humbled in its presence. Dearest Nyoman Subrata, though this is not the first beautiful carving of yours I own, & though each one is treasured, your Rama & Sita sculpture has now become one of the crown jewels in my collection of sacred art. Thank you so much for sharing your gifts with me, for adding to the beauty of my home, & for the sublime awe I experience in the presence of your creations.

"Magnificent!"
Barong is now busy protecting the house, frightening evil spirits but grinning heartily at the rest of us. He has added a colorful and life-enhancing presence that is a delight to encounter daily. After his arrival I particularly enjoyed watching Barong dance rituals on YouTube and highly recommend them to anyone contemplating ordering the mask since you ll understand his significance and character better. Incidentally, I had no trouble hanging him on the wall with a tiny bit of ingenuity.

"Wedding gift"
Absolutely beautiful. I gave this pair as a wedding gift and the recipients loved them. A unique piece of art has more meaning than a store bought, massed produced article and supports the craftsmen and their family. Please dont hesitate if considering a carving by the Subrata Family. You will not be disappointed.

Preserving Traditions
Subrata has been a master carver for many years. He is one of the original Novica artisans and now provides work to other artisans at his carving workshop. He has trained his daughter, Indrawati, in all aspects of his business and she will keep the workshop going when Subrata no longer is able to.
