Delivery EstimateThis exquisite traditional sculpture is hand carved in crocodile wood by Nyoman Indrawati Subrata. Unlike most traditional Balinese dances, the Janger dance allows both men and women to dance together. During the dance, twelve men move aggressively while twelve women sing and sway from side to side.

"This Enchanting Mask became.."
Adorning my fireplace mantel, this Beautiful Enchanting Mask became the focal point of collaged carved wood pieces also purchased from NOVICA. Wish I could Attache a photo to show how it all looks!

"Beautiful"
This is one of my favorite masks. The wood is light and is quite golden when polished. The shape of the face is slightly thinner in the one I received. Intricate carving. I bought this many years ago and it still catches my eye. I think of this artist, Subrata, every time I look at the many masks I have purchased from him.

"Really lovely work, excellent pieces, wonderful!"
Purchased three piece & each piece is truly a work of art. Beautiful clear finish with nice wood grain, the carving detail is wonderful. All the pieces arrive quickly & the boxes were so well packaged. Equally the package came with a totally wonder ribbon with a sweet ornament, just really super. I could not be more please with the purchase.

"Beauty and grace adorns our home"
When I purchased the Janger dancer mask for my wife, I did nor realize just hoe beautiful and elegant it would be until I opened the box. My wife was thrilled and it was a beautiful addition to our homes decoration. So many visitors to our home have remarked on how beautiful the mask is on our wall!

"Third artwork by members of the Subrata family"
I purchased my first Subrata Barong mask 25 years ago, and it guards the door of the family house since that time. When I established my own consulting business and needed a work apartment I went to Novica to see if I could find another piece by the Subrata Paterfamilias, Nyoman Subrata, who carved our old Barong mask and also a beautiful mer-person sculpture that I have at work. I was sad to see that he had left us, but delighted to see that another family member carries on his legacy. Very happy with this new Barong, who watchfully guards the door to my work residence.

Preserving Traditions
Subrata has been a master carver for many years. He is one of the original Novica artisans and now provides work to other artisans at his carving workshop. He has trained his daughter, Indrawati, in all aspects of his business and she will keep the workshop going when Subrata no longer is able to.

Nyoman Subrata has received 6 microcredit loans with 0% interest from Kiva and Novica, the first for $1300 and the most recent for $2600. Proceeds were used to stock up on the materials he needs, such as various woods.
