Portrayed in excellent detail, the face of the guardian demon Barong is featured in this wall mask from Bali. Nyoman Indrawati Subrata of the Subrata Family hand-carves the image of rich acacia wood, featuring plenty of intricate designs. This image depicts Barong Macan, or "Tiger Barong." The Balinese artisan caries on the work of her father, master artisan Nyoman Subrata.

I purchased my first Subrata Barong mask 25 years ago, and it guards the door of the family house since that time. When I established my own consulting business and needed a work apartment I went to Novica to see if I could find another piece by the Subrata Paterfamilias, Nyoman Subrata, who carved our old Barong mask and also a beautiful mer-person sculpture that I have at work. I was sad to see that he had left us, but delighted to see that another family member carries on his legacy. Very happy with this new Barong, who watchfully guards the door to my work residence.
