Details

The Molinari Family are a group of Brazilian artisans who craft masterful pieces of art glass using the methods they learned from emigrants of Murano, Italy. They craft this art glass vase by hand using green and amber pigments to create the beautiful two-tone design. Appearing almost as the twisting vortex of a tornado, the vase's shape creates wonderful undulating spirals of color as tiny effervescent bubbles dance across the entire vessel.

Because each piece is individually crafted by hand, minor variations in color, shape and weight are to be expected. The presence of air bubbles accentuates the nature of the traditional hand blown crafting process, making each piece unique.

Preserving Traditions

Preserving Traditions

Antonio Carlos and his brother, Paulo Molinari, learned the ancient hand-blown glass technique as apprentices of the Italian master, Aldo Bonora, who came to Brazil from Murano Island. After eight years, they opened their own workshop in 1962. Considered among the most brilliant and talented hand-blown glass makers in the country, they have trained a number of glass artisans and have formed masters that have worked with them for more than 30 years.
