Monica de Castellanos' collection of ceramic sculptures is a true reflection of her inspiration drawn from angels and the rich culture of her native Guatemala. Each piece is carefully painted by hand and showcases the traditional attire worn by women in different regions of her country. This time she depicts the costume of San Rafael Petzal with a striking red blouse or hüipil adorned with geometric patterns and paired with a burgundy skirt featuring colorful horizontal and vertical stripes. The golden harp in the angel's hands and the exquisite ivory wings exude pure grace while the sculpture's varnish finish ensures longevity and protection.

The San Andres Xecul Angel that soars in the parlor of my nineteenth century row house in Baltimore reminds me to be kind to strangers and the homeless man who crosses your path for you may be entertaining angels unawares.

I love angels, and this is unlike any I have. Shes beautifully painted, exactly like the picture. The size is perfect for above the archway leading to my kitchen. I would love to see more like this, in this size.
