"My name is Doris Kwaku. I was born in the Volta region of Ghana in July of 1964. My friends say I am kindhearted, honest, loyal and a diligent person.

"I had to take care of my children as a single parent. It wasn't easy at all but, with faith, I did well.

"I had to work and had always had the dream of making jewelry and fashion accessories. I enjoyed creating handcrafted items. So, one day, I took a bold step. I decided to learn and achieve my objective.

"Selby Mabel from my church taught me. But it required learning, applying what I'd learned, and lots of practice to master this art. "I use krobo, or powdered glass, and rubber beads which I purchase from the market for my jewelry. It can be a challenge to assemble them to get an attractive design and requires all my creativity.

"My inspirations come from God and discussions with friends.

"My dream today is to be self reliant and strengthen the rising generations."
