A playful hummingbird seeks out the sweet nectar of flowers in an alebrije sculpture designed to hang from the ceiling. Zeny and Reyna transform found pieces of copal wood into a delightful alebrije. These fanciful sculptures are a traditional folk art in Oaxaca, once based on twenty totems but today representing all kinds of animals. They take their name from a Calo gypsy word for "something difficult, tangled, confusing or fantastic."
Includes a thread for hanging.
Because each alebrije is individually created work of folk art, shapes will vary slightly. Small parts are separated for shipping to protect from breakage.

I have seen a great many works of art, and your hummingbirds are some of the prettiest. They make me smile each time I see them, and draw constant compliments. I have all four colors and would love to see more: maybe bright yellow, light blue, lilac, gray, copper? And maybe beaks of different lengths and angles. I have moved the wings so some have big feathers in front, others in back or in the middle. They hang from my office ceiling, all at different heights. Thank you for creating such beautiful things!

This will be a Christmas gift for me -- a gift from my cat (my cats have always known exactly what I want). Zenys and Reynas pieces are incredible - Exquisite painted details. I have purchased many for myself and many to give as gifts.
