About this Item

Hand-carved from sese wood, this sculpture depicts a beautifully ornamented mask. Ghanaian designer Rita Addo Zakour names this sculpture Biakoye, an Akan word meaning "one love". The face is painted in subtle tones of green, yellow and white, while the head is crowned in brownish-red. Embossed aluminum plating adorns the mask, which sits on a yellow and black semi-circular base.
