The artisans of Akoma collaborate to promote a positive self-image for their peers across the continent, seeking to build unity and harmony in Africa. Visualizing this passion, the artisans carve this mask from a sole piece of sese wood, affixing a textured aluminum plate during the process, before finally sanding and varnishing by hand. Each of the three downward-facing triangles aligns to symbolize the stream of wonder that stimulates action.

I recently purchased the ‘Akoma Geometry scarf- it is exquisitely hand woven by the hands of a true artist. One can tell that so much of who she is was delicately ‘threaded in each stitch. Stunningly beautiful work!

"Anticipating a response"
This is a surprise Christmas gift for my husband. It is a nice mask. It had a small chip on the upper lip when it arrived but it can easily be covered. It is not an antique so it probably doesnt matter. Otherwise, it is colorful and looks like it will add a lot to my husbands collection.
